La Fondazione Luigi Firpo-Centro di Studi sul Pensiero Politico, legata al nome e alla multiforme attività scientifica di Luigi Firpo, studioso delle dottrine politiche, ha dato avvio alla propria attività nel 1989.
Ne sono soci fondatori la Famiglia Firpo, la Regione Piemonte, la Provincia e la Città di Torino, la Cassa di Risparmio di Torino.
Suo scopo è quello di promuovere gli studi politici senza limitazioni di tempo e di luogo e di partecipare, per mezzo di borse e contributi di ricerca, alla formazione di giovani studiosi che nei locali di Palazzo d'Azeglio, messi a disposizione dalla Fiat, trovano spazi e strumenti adeguati per il loro lavoro.

The Fondazione Luigi Firpo - Centro di Studi sul Pensiero Politico was established in 1989 and is named after Luigi Firpo (1915-1989), the renowned historian of political thought who taught at Turin University and distinguished himself in several fields of culture and research. The wide range of Luigi Firpo's scientific interests is reflected in the studies sponsored and promoted by the Foundation and in its various activities. Its principal purpose is to encourage political and historical studies regardless of time and place and to support the training of young researchers by awarding them scholarships and research grants. Their studies are published by Rome's Edizioni di Storia e Letteratura in a special book series, along with the proceedings of the colloquia organized by the Foundation. The Foundation is located in central Turin, in the eighteenth century Palazzo d'Azeglio at via Principe Amedeo 34. At the heart of its activities is the library bequeathed by Luigi Firpo, which consists of 6,000 books dating from the 15th to early 19th centuries and treating all aspects of early modern European history and culture. In addition to this valuable treasure, and to Professor Firpo's sizeable collection of 19th- and 20th- century books, the Foundation regularly acquires current scholarly volumes covering the fields of political thought (particularly about reason of state and utopian thinking) and early modern political, cultural and religious history. |
